Next project Fly USS Jaccard-IJN Matsu!

I have selected for my next project the USS DE Jaccard and the IJN Matsu...original kit was 1:200 scanned and recolored (I felt that the IJN deck tan was way to dark)...and reduced of course to 1:400 scale...I will keep you posted on the builds as they progress;)

DE Jaccard hull construction commences....

These are pictures of the beginning of the hull of my 1:400 reduced scale USS DE Jaccard and the attachment of the binding strips on the bulkheads of the hull red areas of the hull. Complements to Fly Models for issuing these 2 models of these up to now neglected little boats and to the gallant sailors that manned them for the American and Japanese in WW II...I hope that you'all enjoy these pictures of the assembly!:)

Continuing hull construction on USS Jaccard...

've decided to use 3mm hull plates on the hull red areas of the hull of the Jaccard over the red hull sections with this result....interesting to note the effect....:o

I'm thinking this is another great buildthread, Airbob!! I've always wanted to see a 1:200 scale Buckley class Destroyer Escort. Anyone know of one?

I have deceided that I will restart this hull...although this is intresting...and I think it would beI wonderful for a hull, say like the "Cutty Sark" where you have copper plates for the final hull dressing....this is not appropriate for a DD or DE:o...should be smooth...maybe suggestion of some linear pattern...but overall much more smooth...so shall begin over...I will keep you posted with pictures of the progress..as always...peace out:)

restart on building hulls for "Jaccard and Matsu"...

These are pictures of the hull bulkhead construction of the "Matsu" and the "Jaccard" (flush deck one)....I will keep you updated on the construction as I proceed...I hope that you enjoy these pictures of the reduced 1:200 to 1:400 Fly kit of these little DE's...:)...By the way I used "Red River" 76 lb premium matte for this...it is very stiff and just great for this size hull bulkheads!!!

The revised builds are off to a great start, Bob.

Thanks for the info on the paper you used for the 1/400 bulkheads. Do you know how thick the "Red River" 76 lb. paper is and who sells it?

I'd also be interested in knowing from which vendor you bought the original Flymodel kits?

Don B.
