Here is a small amount of progress on the Lex. I added the front and rear gun platforms. Maybe platforms is incorrect but I don't know what else to call them. Experts speak up. The triple platform will eventually have 3 open mount 5 in cannon. The front platform is supposed to have two 0.5 inch machine guns but buildng them is beyond what my fat fingers are capable of so I substituted the cast dual 20 mm.
I am toying with trying an Essex class in 1:200 but can't find any, the closest seems to be a GPM in 1:300. I am learning a lot. The details are getting better but the hull still looks like what it is, a first model.

Good morning,

Your Lexington is looking good! I agree these flat-tops are brutes. I've been working on the Fly Model Saratoga for six months! A lot of internal bracing helps so I only had to use 1 mm for the flight deck.

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks all for the kind words. I should say this is my first CARD model. The previous ones were of the more conventional type. Next some more platforms around the stern which I think are for access when in port.

Some progress on the Lex. I think this set of platforms may be the main shore side access to the ship, although it would be very high up from the dock. On the other hand there aren't any access doors at lower levels such as one sees on modern cruise ships.
The signboard is a total mystery. The two anchors are spares. This will be all for a couple of weeks as the model and myself are in different places.
Regards all Jim Bean

I can't shed any light on the configuration of the platform and look forward to authoritative info from members who know more than I.

Meanwhile, your fine work on this excellent model continues to give pleasure.

I await patiently the next photos whenever you have the chance to resume work.

Don
