Heck, it sets a high standard regardless. I just wished I could do 1/2 the job @ scratch building as this artist has done.:DRick

Thanx Friends
I´ve just solved my "general problem", turrets making, they´ve got their place alredy :D, so I can finish railing and continue to details making. The ship looks now a little different like normal galleon, but turrets were used for more galleons of this age ( Corona, White lion for example ), not only for Ark Royal. Is possible, that after refit in 1609 they were removed from the ship, but almost on every picture I found they were, and I have confirmed the only original picture is which wikipedia is using from Royal library and turrets are placed there,s so I putted them on my ship too. And , by the way, the´re in the shipplans I have. As I said, I´m making model based on wooden ship plans, so almost every part of shape I have to desing myself. It looks very simple, but It takes me quite lot of time:D:D:D. I had to improve every turret to fit it exactly to its place - and it fit. At the moment they´re unfinished yet, but the rest of parts is prepared, it will continue very quickly to complete them with decoration also ( I suppose few days ) I´ll put some pictures then here. Those ten images present some excellent views of your project Jan. Good work on those turrets. Very interesting. What were they used for?

Hi Mike,
The turrets were used as toilettes normally ( as the place on galion was use), and as positiions for archers in the battle. And, of course it was a decoration elements. They were used on more ships ( for example Corona, Golden Lion etc. ) till the end of 16th century. Jan |
