T.S.S. Baltic testbuild

Here's a model I had designed about three years ago, a model based upon the Olympic and Britannic models I had designed before.

The T.S.S. Baltic:

I made this design drawing and set just before my computer crashed, and some other issues kicked in. Just recently I found a PDF file I had sent myself shortly before. A PDF file with only unnumbered parts for testbuilding. So after a while.. here we go. Hoping everything will fit together nicely.

The testbuild pages.

And the most boring part done, building the internal structure..

A pen can be seen for the size of the model.

I have no idea of it's scale, it's roughly the size of my Olympic class builds, but the Baltic should by slightly smaller.

We'll see how this is coming together..

Wow! That's tiny! Can't wait to see it completed!

Quick question. I don't know much about ships, but you know the (I think bridges?) or the tall structures on the ship. Do you use paper or string to model the lines that connect the structures?

Hi Joshua, thanks for your reply, yes these are tiny, about 1:1200 scale.
(See also my other buildlogs for shipmodels this size)

About the rigging, if all the deckhousing and masts are attached the rigging can be put on. mostly using thin thread. But in a model this scale the rigging can best be kept to a minimal, although some can get outstanding results extending their rigging. I had extended the rigging myself on my larger (1:200 scale) Titanic model.

Regards,

Jerry

What a beautiful ship!

The model looks terrific, especially in that tiny scale.

Here we go.. the first error.., well I guess that's what testbuilds are for..
After fitting the hull and dryfitting the deck, I noticed it was to short.
But perhaps I can work my way around this, and lengthen it in the middel, under the enclosed promenade.

And the last ones for today;

I worked my way around the misfitting of the deck, cut it in half in the center, put the bow and stern where they belong and started adding the first deckhousing;

The model does need some tweaking here and there, but it is coming together nicely.
