Sad.

But there seems to be issues over the Starwars stuff.

There is a current post somewhere here about the same topic.

I would have thought the fact that it was a closed forum and the files were under password would b have protected you.

I am sorry (Olli) but I think you are reading too much from that argument.

The inital topic was "what you can do with a model, that you have downloaded".
The issue was resizing a model (to build) without permission from the designer.

Then the discussion moved into other areas about copying others designs, the
limits of what you can do with a downloaded model
and comments about permissions and copyrights issues.

I think, your Bismark model, was the original topic of resize and it seems like a
very silly argument.
I think Peter P was agreeing, and only arguing about permissions and copyrights
in a sarcastic way.

A "Starship Troopers" related model is easily considered "fan-art".
And as long as you aren't using that copyrighted concept for commercial gain,
you will be quietly ignored by the copyright holder.

If at some time you are asked not to share such a model, then politely oblige.
Until that time, ignore those jealous or disgruntled modellers who criticize your work.

Just my opinion.

*Unfortunately there is a serious language issue here. Olli's English is not good enough for me to properly explain myself.
And my German is even worse. Online translators are great, but can really distort discussions so they should not be relied
on in serious discussions. Unless you have someone who speaks good German and English, and who can mediate a
discussion like this, its impossible to properly discuss the issues.

Yes I ignore such people.
I do not care, I still have my models.
For you it is not pretty.

Oliver,
That is utterly an idiotic threat! I don't think that 90%, (if that), of all the paper model designers out there on the web have gotten permission from manufacturers to make the paper model. Meaning, of all the F-16 Falcon fighter jet paper models, I'll bet none of the designs were approved by General Dynamics. It doesn't mean it is totally legal for the most part, but no company of that size is going to go after someone who makes and gives away free models resembling their real production aircraft. I seriously doubt they would be concerned with someone who charges a couple of dollars for the model either. There are things like fan art, which is typically allowed in the United States. meaning they could go to court over the use of their images and likenesses, but they probably won't if it is considered fair use, or doesn't threaten the companies ability to make a profit from their work. General Dynamics isn't going to care that someone makes a few dollars from a copy of their F-16 when they are making literally billions of dollars every year from that design alone.

Paladin - I do not think Oliver intended to be threatening! Airdaves comment is valid...

Herky - I do not think so.

i have a few of Ollie's models but I missed the last few I think but to have the enjoyment of our hobby dictated by a few narrow minded, though legal, minds is hard to stomach.
In a private forum why would they come looking for things to have removed? They would need to become members to comment. Do they sneak in under the curtain? I am truly saddened by Ollie's decision. I hope no more are brought low.
