WWII carrier models, free or otherwise?

I've been looking through old posts, and it seems the consensus on aircraft carrier models is that I have buy one. Is that still the case?

Can you guys make some recommendations for good WWII carrier card models, if you know of any? Thanks very much.

As far as I know, you'll have to buy one. I've got most of them, but I've only started GPM's Zuikaku. There are fit issues with that kit, but so far it's OK overall. Answer's Junyo looks really good and probably Haliniski's Gambier Bay is the best.

I'd just buy the one(s) you like the best though, none of them seem to be bad kits.

Yes, I haven't seen a freebee WW2 carrier. If you want challenging, Any of the GPM, Answer kits. If you want challenging and hard but superdetailed get a Halinski. Easy to medium, builds get a JSC kit.

If you don't want to start with the most complicated models you can try one of these; Bestpapermodels.com - Paper models, crafts - Ships

Thanks for the pointers everybody - I like the Essex, and I'm considering a Japanese Shinano model.
What about any models of the Nimitz- or Gerald Ford-class? Not WWII carriers, but very, very cool ships. Anybody aware of freebies of these (or even of any paper models of the Ford)?

Some one else they ask a bout free models of carriers and I think there was none? There is the big Wilhelmshavener USS Forrestal...

If you like the small size, I make the Micromodels HMS Ark Royal...

HMS Ark Royal

I see an original Micromodels set for this on eBay but it sell for a very dear price over $100 for a redrawn set.

In 2004, the Lilly of the Valley Studio had a free 1/700 scale model of the carrier, Nimitz.
I do not know if this is still available.
I cannot find the website.
