Vegesack - Bluebird Class Minesweepers - built in France
Hello Gentlemen,
I'm a friend of ships a lot behind the mainstream of knowing; German S-Boats, S-Boat-Tender ... and now, the Vegesack - a minesweeper - and one of her sister; all members of the American Bluebird-class, and all six units for the growing German Navy are built in France named Mercure-class. By the way, Vegesack is part of the city where I live; should this be the kick, to start this project? Anyway, informations about the originals are very poor; one drawing taken out of a book and a simplified yard example and a lot of enthusiasm - but take a look at yourself ... First of all, I brought the plan to scale; drawing the base and setting up the formers without problems; the fixing of the decks was the next step .. Sorry, for the younger friends of mine - the keel for the Vegesack was laid down in 1957; at first pics of the original - and than the other of my stumbling ... With lovely greetings the Wilfried PS: sorry to you all; no progress in my english language Last edited by Wilfried; 12-22-2009 at 04:57 PM. |

Moin, Wilfried -
How wonderful to see another of your distinctive ship builds. This is a nice Christmas present for us. The hull looks excellent and the photos are beautifully staged. Thanks also for the prototype photos. Don |

Hello gentlemen, moin Don!
First of all, I'll hope you've had a nice Christmas this year?! And thank you for your kind remarks. Starting the construction of the hull in that way of the older days as cardboard modelling became a hobby ... One takes 120-gramme-tracing paper; if a suitable piece cuts out itself. If it puts in to the frame scaffolding and fixes the authoritative point. Jes, this frame it should be! See red arrows. Position 1 is the frame scaffolding! Position 2 is the tracing paper, which with Fixogum - after drawing of the authoritative line - was coated back-sided full-flatly and was put on then accordingly in the frame construction. The little lines are the suitable benchmarks for the body side wall which was laid then on the scanner and was worked on as a background in the sign programme. Position 3 shows the expression at tracing paper of the just described expiry... ... and afterwards the control. Whether it has worked, however - and whether that everything is so right.... I will report about... With lovely greetings the Wilfried |

Hello to you all,
hope you've had a good start into the new year? So let me continue my construction and building report. Well, from the plan situation I had already spoken as a condition and had pointed; the next step was, how does the boat number come - one assumes strangely enough always such things with a printed model as natural - to the body? Helpfully the lateral view of M1250 VEGESACK which I have cribbed in the sign programme at the background level built in, scaled and at the sign level copied ... same I did with stern ... |
