IJN Yamato, Halinski, 1:200

Hi friends,

I want to start my first building report in this forum, it`s about Halinski`s Yamato in 1:200.
This report is also published at kartonbau.de. It started in March this year, so the first postings will be a retrospect.
As I wanted to build a real big ship I chose the Yamato from a nostalgic point of view: It was my first cardboard model in 1:200 which I build when I resumed card modeling back in 1993.

Hi Chris,

no, that`s the old one, that I started card modeling with again. As the files are on my pharmacy pc and I`m at home this afternoon, the report will start tomorrow.

Hi,

I´ve got two issues of the Yamato, 1999 and 2004, of course I used the new one. I also acquired the barrel set by GPM and the photo-etch set by Gold Medal Models which originally is intended for the Nichimo plastic model.
For informations I use

Waiting with much anticipation!!! I have the 2004 version and would love to see it come together (since it probably won't be me!)....

This might be of interest, a computer generated 3D model of IJN Yamato in her April 1945 appearance

Hi,

as I had to wait for the ordered cardboard, I started to build parts of the equipment.
First the 46cm turret. It consists of a stable frame construction, the length of the barrels was checked with the plan. The blastbags are made of white glue and a layer of a paper handkerchief. Ladders are lasercut.
