USS Essex 1:200 project

Hi
I have been thinking of building a Essex Class carrier in scale 1:200.
Are there any of you who have tips to share of how I can do it?

I intend to use the Maly Modelarz models (there are two versions) of the Essex. but is it possible that the Jsc Intrepid can be used?

I realy need some feedback on this because it looks like no one has built this carrier in this scale.

As a warming up I will build the Halinsky "Gumbier Bay" carrier so I get the feel of building a big aircraft carrier (although I might do the Jeremiah O'brian at the same time).

Ok, lets hear what you have to say.

That's a pretty serious warmup, building a Halinski kit before a Maly Modelartz. Whichever one you build I would be most interested to follow along as I have both of those on my "to build" pile.

Well, I'm thinking of doing an essex with Halinski detail so why not doing a halinski model first so I get the feel for it, that would be smart.

I still need some feedback on if someone have done this and how I should do it.
The USS Essex is a realy big boat so the model is going to be about 1,35 meters long.

If no one answer this I might have to ask around. Who should I ask?

Ask barry or nothing. They have both done ships and will be able to offer some tips

Hopefully doing full hull with maybe a waterline variant?

Thanks. This is going to be a full hull version.
And about the Gumbier bay I think I make another twitch to it.
Why make another boat that everyone else have done?

Why not just change the number and woala, you got a diffrent boat
so here we go, witch one should I do?

Cve 73 Gumbier Bay (easy and no change)
Cve 63 St.Lo (same camoflage)
Cve 76 Kadashan Bay (Plain gray)
Cve 66 White Plains (cool name and with camo)

This is what I have come up with so far but any suggestions would be great.

There is a fantastic build of the Essex, as soon as I get back to my study, I will try to dig it up. It has the updated deck version and a slew of aircraft for the deck and below deck. I think the build is over at Zealot, maybe someone else remembers the build and can give you the website.

Howabout the one that Halinski originally designed. The Gambier Bay was one of the Taffy 3 escorts off Samar. It also had the distinction of being the only US carrier sunk by naval gunfire. Probably by one of of the Tone twins; Chikuma and Tone, can't remember which right now.
