Oh I see. Knowledge from the Navy itself is more valuable than any drawing :o The drawing is also great by the way, I wonder is it from an official source or is that purely a modeller's reference?

On the name though, I had always thought that the names of these light cruisers are so peaceful that they sound more like that of a river cruiser than a warship

Don:
Thanks for your historic update, interesting, also that you served in Japan. I build my TAMA in a just even grey color, by the way I also use Japanese books like Gakken etc. wich are great for model builders.
Lex:The drawings I bought many years ago, "Japanese Naval Vessels Series" hardbound Plan set from Kojinsha and Ushio-Shobo's "Nihon Kaigun Zumen Zenshu". From the first two volumes were published and I both have them and from the last five volumes were published from wich I have volume no. 1, each volume has a fiftheen or so drawings gathered in a box. The Kojinsha plans are very detailed, but a bit smaller as the Ushio-Shobo's, the Ushio-Shobo plans have also cut away drawings, but some of them not so detailed, there is also one of ISE re-build as a Hybrid !

You have a real treasure trove there, John. It's good that someone with your skill and imagination came into possession of the resources that you can use to produce these wonderful models. They provide a unique way to visualize these ships.

Totally beautiful work. It looks like you are even including the lifting lugs on the major pieces of equipment.
