Thanks for the nice words. Now I have made my first mistake. I did not glue the stern parts of the hull sides high enough, so the poop deck (who comes up with these terms) sits higher than the windows on the side plating. My attempt to fix: photocopy the hull sides and cut out the window portion to laminate in the correct position. Its not perfect but its an OK fix to my eye.

Installation of the hatches is the next step. One needs to work slowly and carefully to get everything together well. Several pieces are a tight fit so correct placement is paramount.

Neat build!
Container ship build seems to be ideal for refreshment for exhausted and devastated modeler from itty-bitty work even if it has a lot of containers on deck since containers are just rectangular box.... |

Thanks Yu for your kind words. The next section to be built was the aft deckhouse. No major problems to be had here. I did trim off the mounting tabs off the ends of the lower wrap around deck to improve fit and appearance.

The wheel house can be built one of two ways: simplified or detailed. I built up both to show the difference. The simplified has all slanted walls while the detailed one has only the upper half windows slanted. Neither is difficult to build, so I'm not sure why the option. Oh well!

Hi, Greg!
You are making wonderful progress, looking great! Curious about the option on the wheelhouse, but it's nice they offer the two versions...I think the second one (is that the "detailed" version?) looks most appropriate. I also thought it was interesting how the wheelhouse wraps around with lots of glass...possibly the idea being to provide a good range of view for maneuvering while giving the crew protection from the elements. I recall this is a ship that frequents the more frigid trade routes, so that protection is no doubt very much appreciated by the crew. Keep at it mate, she's beautiful! Cheers! Jim |

Yes the one on the right is the detailed assembly.
Next up is the crane assemblies. The instructions call for 3 mm diameter stick/rod to use for mounting the cranes to the ship. The closest I had was 3.2 mm. It was actually the perfect size. Greg

The little pieces that stick up on each side of the hull are part of the container supports. As an option the remaining parts of each container support are provided. Because the outside portions are so flimsy and bend easily, the other parts should not really be considered optional. As a help, twelve (?) extras are provided. I didn't need any for this step though.
Only one picture this time. I think it shows enough by itself. Greg

Great job on the cranes, Greg!
Getting close to stowing your cargo. Looks like a lot of 20' container stacks. Wonderful job on this build! Cheers! Jim |

Thanks Jim!
No progress to report today. School work took precedence. My intention is to get the funnel, mast and rudder done tomorrow. A whole 7 pieces. I think I can handle that! Greg
