SS Nieuw Amsterdam - 1:250 - Scaldis Modelclub

I've not posted as much recently as I'd like, but here's another build. Scaldis has published the long-anticipated SS Nieuw Amsterdam, and it's a great model to build. Full hull, and lots of detail:

Welcome back, Marco! I am delighted to see that you have another major ship model build underway. It looks terrific so far. I look forward eagerly to following this build.

The Old Queen of the Seas, a beautiful classic Atlantic liner. It is nice to see a passenger ship as alternative to the war ships on the forum. I'm sure it will turn out to be a perfect model by Marco, as always.

Thank you! Here's further progress on the ship. Shaping the stern plates is always a challenge on models like this, but the fit of parts was very good.

By the underwatership of the bow you can tell that the naval architect who designed the New Amsterdam was also the designer of the ms Oranje

Nieuw Amsterdam

Hello Marco,

It's good to see, that all the trouble we had in devellopping this classic liner gives you no construction problems. You still might face some minor problems, but do not worry, you will solve them, if not you can alway contact me.

Keep up the good work Marco.

Did anyone see my thread about this classic liner? forgot about her?

I will update my thread.

Regards Hans van de Pavoordt

Hans, thank you for the background info!

I'm building the full hull version. My assistant is unfortunately rather useless - won't even let me use his nails to score paper.

That is a remarkably smooth hull, and the upperworks look terrific so far.

Your assistant is, at least, photogenic.
