Hi Cdn, I bought the styropor from my local modelshop, but I don't remember the price of it, since I've had for a couple of years (it was originally mend to make electric parkflyers, before I made the switch to helicopters).
However, next time I will glue the hullplating directly over the stryropor, but instead of woodglue (what I usually use for paper), I'll use a contactglue instead.

The darned problem with this kit is of a completely different kind however, I started building this one, a couple of months ago, than had to leave her because of my work, my book (I'm writing a fantasy novel atm) etc etc etc.... now that I'm ready to work on her a bit more.... I don't find the rest of the lasercut parts anymore :/ So, I'm kind of in doubt between ordering another lasercut set, or just go with the original kit and find some suitable cardboard for it.

A couple of pictures of what's going on here ...

As I said earlier, I had filled the hull with styropor :

And wanted to apply a layer of putty to achieve a smooth hull :

Lucky enough I didn't do the complete hull before standing back to see how it went, as you can see, the styropor started to shrink on me :(

So, I had to resolve to another strategy and I made strips of normal paper to make a protective layer for the styropor :

By the looks of it, it seems I'm on the right track again

There are lots of ways to fair a ship hull, I think it'll work ok with layers of card and sanding. It does help to seal the paper before filling I've found out, though..krylon or primer spray.

Btw, a little translation would make something clear to me, does anyone know what "przykleic od spodu do" means ?

Finally some color on the lower part of her hull again. Far from perfect, but after all, this is the first time I try to tackle a hullshape like this.

Tomorrow I'll try to do the aft section of the ship.

Good work. The bottom looks good after all your work.

With all the Polish-speaking members of this Forum, you should have an authoritative answer on "przykleic od spodu do" soon, but I couldn't resist trying a Google translate, which provided: "stick to the bottom." Does that make sense in the context?

Don

On a side note, if those are cigarette rolls I see on the left side of the last photo, are those actually used in the modeling process or is it just a vice? ;-)
