Well, time for a very overdue update

Lots of things have been done on the hull as you will see.

First I attached the anti-topedo shield, wich gave no trouble at all, after that, I finished the rear hullplating wich was a real pain, after 4 attempts I decided it was enough, and I'll just have to learn to live with it.
The stabelizers have been attached to the hull as well, and the complete construction was given two layers of G4.
This morning I have given the hull it's first layer of satin red (household paint).

That's because the paint was wet when taking the picture, it's actually a semi-gloss paint.
The next stage will of course be the upper part of the hull and the deckfittings. For the rudder and propeller I have decided to wait till last, since these parts seems a bit fragile to me.

Nothing a few coats of Dullcoat won't bring down to a nice scale finish if the semi-gloss is still too shiny...

I'm glad Mike clued me in to this thread. I'm thinking of purchasing this kit and this looks like a very informative thread.

I'm curious, do you think this kit lends itself to a waterline configurations rather than full hull?

Your work is exceptional! I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Jeff

Re the Diulio thread

If you want to be the ultimate rivet counter, try to find a copy of Brian King's Modelling the Late Victorian Battleship, one of the featured ships is the Diulio. Stunning pictures of a ridiculous level of scratch building ability. I may own the only copy of it outside the publisher, the subject matter is a bit esoteric. Good luck on yours !

It should be possible to built it as a waterline model, I would think. However the aiding marks on the frames are not on the right level of the waterline.

Well, just to let you know that I haven't given up on this one yet, it's just that I haven't had much time lately. However soon, I'll start working on her again, so, updates will be posted again soon.
