willygoat that means a lot to me. Also thank you all. This is a aircraft I always thought was among the best of the time period. I'm glaj to have it and under clear plastic to keep it clean. Thank you again. wc

I tried something similar a while back.

What I find interesting about 1930's air racing was the fact that it wasn't the military that had the fastest planes in the world , but sportsmen. After WWII the jet age started and the military had the fastest planes and it's been that way ever since.

The Army used to race some.
There was a nice model of Billy Mitchell"s Spencer cup racer on Canon, but it is not there anymore.
