Master class. How to make seamless texture.

At first we need Photoshop or any other raster graphic editor. With experience in future you could notice that you don’t need definite program, you could use any of them. But I’d prefer Photoshop because it is installed at my workstation

The second step – is to find the donor photo. Google photo search will be helpful for you. But I prefer my own photos.

Open it in your editor.

Make it more eye-candy-like with <image-adjustments-levels>, <image-adjustments-contrast>, <image-adjustments-curves>. Do you like it? If yes, the next step is to

Define the pattern: Just crop image to get the accurate picture. If we are making stones of other regular texture we have to make it really regular, without diagonal lines or other noises:

If you need use the transform tool <edit-transform>

Seamless.

If we try to use this image as pattern, we’ll see that seams are visible. We have to delete them.

1. Find the center if image.

2. Separate images for 4 parts. It’ll be better to place every part in its own layer.

3. And move parts:
Right top part – at left bottom place
Right bottom – at left top place.
Left bottom - at right top place
And the left top – at the right bottom place (oh, hope, all correctly

Using stamp and brushes, delete the seams:

Merge layers <layer – flatten image>.

Create from image pattern <edit – define pattern>

And… The finish… Create new image…

Define place for fill and <edit – fill - pattern> chose pattern and… Hurrah! The miracle:

Seems understandable even to me :D. Think I'll try this in GIMP in the next week or so if things ever slow down. Thanks for taking the time to post this.
