Nieuport 27 realistic repaint tutorial
Now I am working with Roman Vasyliev's Nieuport 27 model. I'll try to show you some steps of this repaint. This model is absolutely new, it hasn't been released yet.
So Step #1. Preparing model. As you know from , Roman uses for making models Rhinoceros and Corel Draw. I do not need Rhino, my workspace is just Corel Draw and Photoshop. Open the model in Corel and delete all color parts. We will add color a little bit later. Now we have to export all parts to Photoshop. I use the *.eps format, so in Corel: select all parts from model, which we will repaint, press <ctrl>+<e> (Export), choose the "EPS" format. Do not forget to point the "Export this page only" and "Selected only" checkboxes. The next window is: Open the Photoshop or every other rastr editor. Make the new file, with width and height like page with your model (I use A4, 210x298 mm). Resolution - 200 - 250 dpi (the best for printer), bachground color - white (#ffffff in RGB). Use command file-place to place eps files with model's parts. Step 1 is finished. |

Can I ask is there any reason for doing it in the corel draw first?

Of course you can. I am doing this because Roman makes his files in Corel Draw, and he gives me files in this format. But Rhino could send files directly to photoshop (using .eps or .ai formats)

why export out of CorelDraw into PS, when you could do all the work in Corel?

I prefer to use Photoshop, and it looks more comfortable to me. But if you like only CDR, of course your welcome! This is only my own opinion

(In fact, CorelPhotoPaint is a lot more user friendly in my opinion) if you are using Adobe Illustrator, then thats another topic. I know that Illustrator has some unique features. Corel Painter is also another excellent program. Your textures and colours are well done. Its nice working with base Corel files though, isn't it? ...but thats too easy! Wait till you start with a non-vectored / non-layered file! lol you obviously have the skills to continue on your own, but if I can provide help with anything don't hesitate to ask. dave
