As a reply, just like the UnrollSrf command, the Squish command can unfold lines on the surface in question just in the same way. When prompted, select the lines that reside on your lofted surface, that's all you have to do.

You could project the lines to the surface if you were trying to make a reference point. You might have to "Duplicate Edge" to make the lines if your frame does not have the lines but that will give you lines to project which will unroll with your part.

The short answer is YES. You are trying this out before you ask right? I mean, this took me 2 minutes to do, 5 minutes from start to loading onto the forum (I had to let me dog out). Make sure you try this out. If you are having trouble projecting lines, that is another question. One at a time, so we don't confuse issues. Also, I am NOT in any way shape or form the authority, or even good with Rhino, the person (Goldenbear) and GIL are the best people I know with this software. I just happen to be the one answering.

First of all, I'm sorry but i'm a newbie on this.
The squish command sounds as though it is exactly the command I need.
Just to give you some backgorund. I have a meter long steel plate that is slightly curved in 2 directions. I need to "squish" it (seems to be the best command to get the flattened shape - thanks to you guys on this forum).

I now need to get the outer profile out to a CNC laser profiler - possibly a DXF file.

How would I export the outer profile of the squished shape to a DXF file?

Select the squished line shape --> File --> Export Selected --> Save as type: [Select from drop down menu] AutoCAD drawing exchange file (*.dxf) --> File name:"type in file name" --> Enter

This will save the line drawing as a *.dxf file type...,
