Scripts for paper modelers in Rhinoceros 3D

Dear all,
I have created few scripts for Rhinoceros (using RhinoScript) - to help creating papermodels. One group is focusing on numbering and second one is designed to help people with glueing tabs.

I have recorded two videos which describing both:
Numbering - YouTube
Glueing Tabs - YouTube

Scripts are only in Slovak - I will rewrite them also to English and post here link to download. I am using Rhinoceros ver4 EDU (with all up to date updates ).

Is it possible to get those scripts working for Rhino2?

Dear Engeener Spendlik!

Your scripts are just awesome.

Part numbering is what I dont like (hate, in fact ). Also your "tab script" works in the way, that standard "array along curve" command can't.

You have solved two most time consuming and boring things in papermodel design, in the way that not many Rhino users can do. Scripting is not easy even if You know VBS commands (at least for me - I wanted to replicate your scripts, but just didnt know how to start).

Sharing Rhino secrets is not a common behavior among designers - but If You would be so kind to share these scripts (whether for free or not), I will appreciate this act of charity very much. With kid's joy.

Let me tell this again: well done, mate!

Thank you for your comments.

If you donīt want to wait till translation you could try the Slovak version - Papermodelers.sk. At the end of the post there is uploaded .zip file with the toolbars (PaperModel01.zip). You can add these toolbars to Rhino using the standard way.
I know, there will be one problem with numbering (but it will be only cosmetic problem) - because RhinoScript is pointing on "full fill" which is named different in my version of Rhino (I am using CZ version). When I translate it I will also post "manual" for using these scripts - where will be everything described - why is RhinoScript doing this and that and what to change if you would like to modify it...

Great work. I would like to see this as a start to scripting for designers. When I design a dead serious hi-end model with Rhino there just seems to be so many things that looks simple but takes ages to do. It'll be great if scripting becomes more common among designers and spendlik certainly demonstrated how useful it can be...!

Hmm. it's in .td format which Rhino 2 can't import using its script installer. Is it possible to make a .rvb/rjs version of it?

Works perfect!

Fortunately our slavic languages are similar, and God gave us google.translator Scripts are easy to get familiar with, even with trial-and-error method .

Combination of two "tab creating methods":

Commands used:
-eng.Senglik script
-offset curve
-trimm
-join

Those who built my designs know that I prefer rather trapezoid tabs before triangular shark teeth tabs . All curves are joined, what can't be obtained when trapezoids are "arrayed" along curve with basic Rhino commands.

Now, life became easier.

Legion, my file is in *.tb format, which means it's a toolbar. Try to copy the file to C:\Program Files\Rhinoceros 4.0\Plug-ins

After launching the application, new toolbar schould appear.
