It seems to be on par for price with Pepakura which seems to be more popular, but it's all up to what you're comfortable with.

It looks like Ultimate Papercraft 3D has a free demo. Ultimate Papercraft 3D

I recommend trying it out for yourself to see if it does what you want it to and then decide if its worth the money to you.

You do realize that this isn't a complete paper model creation package - you need to create the 3D model in some type of CAD program first, then export to this to flatten it - like Pepakura. Make sure this program can handle the format of the models you're creating.

I used it in my early days of papermodeling design before I got Rhino. For what it worth it is good for beginner, easy to use. Things I don't like about it beside it will crash on me every now and then, make me lose all my work, is that I can't group tabs together to make one long tabs. It will automatically generate tabs for every face no matter how small the face is. So I always end up making all new tabs in Photoshop. Also for curved surfaces, it will distort the surface differently each time it unfold it. So, if for some reason I need to go back to unfold the same curved surface again. the new unfold template will not match up with the old and thing don't line up. But, again. for 40 bucks. it is good for beginners to get into designing.

Pepakura is trusted and tested, that and Rhino are the two unfolding tools I use regularly. Judging from UP3's feature list it's pretty similar to Pep so anyone intending to get their first piece of software could consider this an option, but those who already have Pep have no reason to change.

I have used it in the past. To be honest I haven't really got on with it.

The problem is that automatic unfolders never seem to do what you want them to do. I don't think it's any worse than pepekura.

I guess it depends what program you're designing in. If it's sketchup then don't bother buying it. I had a model unfolded in sketchup and tried to import it to add tabs and it split the thing down into tons of smaller pieces would have taken me hours to fix.

Oh, and I could not get it to keep any of the textures I had applied, the models all ended up blank. Sorry. It may be possible to use it well, but I couldn't work out how.
