Who works on a daily basis with linux?
Fedora 23 KDE at work, Fedora 23 KDE at home desktop, Fedora 23 XFCE at home notebook (32 bit, 2GB RAM ). Except for 22 (due to KDE Plasma 5's rough edges), I've used all Fedora versions since Core 1, and Red Hat before that. I'd try Mint if I had time to play.

Hi environment KDE looks great , but is burden for the computer

I bet on speed of the system, the appearance is immaterial.
Today, if I have enough time, will install Linux Mint 17.3 "Rosa" Xfce.
My PC is very old AMD 1.4 MHz, RAM 1GB , VGA 512 MB

Regards , Henryk

Well said. When I used Slackware, I used first FVWM, then WindowMaker.
But compared with XFCE and LXDE/LXQt, I think KDE is better integrated, more customizable and organized.

1GB RAM? Get at least 1 more - for such a machine, RAM is much more important than CPU clock or video. Other than that, never open more than one tab in your browser. Or even, forget XFCE and other desktop environments, run just a window manager like WindowMaker; you'll lose some convenience but your system will breathe much easier.
If you want to design models, applications like Gimp, Inkscape or Blender will be severely limited with 1GB.

Hi
cfuruti , I am aware of the shortcomings of my PC.
Tests Linux distributions give valuable experience (installation, configuration , how works system) so recognize the system.
I plan to buy a new PC, but the problem is a standard - funds

Hi Friends I live and work on the Mint XFCE
I get big kicking on the system the beginnings are always difficult.
I installed ten packages operate only two.

The biggest problem is the lack of Skype was supposed to be so simple

Hi Thank you Hazooka for the tip but unfortunately I can not run the program
Skype starts a few seconds , no effects, no reported errors, ends the operation.

I have a lot yet to learn

Sorry to hear that, and certainly you're not the only dissatisfied Linux user. Skype (the company) never actually supported Linux, and perhaps it got worse after Microsoft acquired it. I don't use it directly, so never even tried.

Heniu, być może to kwestia ustawień dźwięku w Twoim systemie. Na polskim forum minta znajdziesz sporo informacji.

Henry, perhaps that's matter of sound settings in your system. There are lot of useful informations on polish Mint Forum.
