Autodesk Inventor 2018

Does anyone know if Inventor will let you unwrap a 3D model into paper?

Very interesting, Autodesk Inventor can use in Sheet metal's work. They have many functions to work with sheet metal, yes that include unfold and refold. I think Inventor can work with create a paper model because paper and sheet metal are nearly the same.

That's pretty cool, I totally forgot about sheet metal functionality, I'll try that out, I might still have to add tabs though.

I work on Inventor 2018 on a daily basis (to pay the bills) the sheet metal tool will help in doing paper models BUT, more on the lines of the simple type where very complex shapes are going to be very hard to to model and get to look and assemble as you want it to.

I have tried a few shapes in inventor and it will work but you are spending more time in programming the shapes and glue tabs.

It would be far easier to model a shape and put it into pepakura and do an break out from there with some AutoCAD or Photoshop work afterwards.

This has been one of my main limiting factors with a design that I have completed but it is on the board line of been near impossible to build.

@Retunga Very useful information, Thank you very much. I like the way that Inventor render a mesh and make a drawing, that why I interesting in this program. Pepakura is a must have program if you want to design paper model.
