Thank you Rick. I'm definitely going to read the update notes first, and wait to see what bugs are reported. I waited for 0.92.4 before I upgraded from 0.48.

Gentlemen: Is it worth updating from 0.92 to 1.0? I use inkscape for my 30 x 20 K40 laser machine so unless there are significant changes, I think it is not worth updating. What is your opinion?

read and find out

the choice is yours, most if not all of us, have no skill or understanding of what you do with your laser, so we won't be much of any help to you

Thanks for your suggestion. I asked this because i was surprised to find announcement of Inskcape new version here since, a far as i know, this software is mostly used together with another one called "Whisperer 40" to operate Chinese laser cutting machines. So I concluded that some of you guys used it for operating the laser cutting machines. Anyway, thanks again.

The software is a vector image editor, not unlike Adobe Illustrator, seeing that most designers do not have the money for Adobe products, and we have numerous threads and tutorials detailing how to use Inkscape to edit and repaint paper model kits, it is a natural fit to announce it here.

I would do the same for Gimp or Pepakura

Thanks for clearing up the matter. I thought GIMP was similar to Photoshop, not Illustrator or Inskcape. Is Inkscape similar to Coreldraw??. I've heard that several people also use CorelDraw for laser cutting machines. But CorelDraw costs a fortune. As a matter of fact, the machines include an old version of CorelDraw which nobody uses because Inkscape is much better. And now I see why you posted Inkscape news here, as you say, is more than appropriate. Thanks again!!

Inkscape is similar to Adobe Illustrator, I have no idea what Corel Draw does, there might be others who use it, and are more familiar with it

Thanks Rick.

I use inkscape as my main illustrating editor. ACAD and studio for drawing.

Most appreciated!
