Ashlar Graphite is a great 2D program, and I can export to almost any format, but has very limited graphic ability.
Speaking from ignorance, because I've never actually tried it, DoubleCAD XT v5 from
claims to be an AutoCAD LT work-alike, is free, and appears to have a reasonable graphics capability.
Might save a step for you.

Doublecad is a fine piece of CAD lite software, I still have V3 Pro. I know the folk who make it and they are a decent bunch.

I have used Blender and has a steep learning curve. You can try Blender For Artists.

I also use Inkscape. Very easy to use.
