Freeware OCR?

Is there a freeware OCR program somewhere that will work either with my HP AIO, MS products or PSP? Actually, it needs to recognize French characters!! Many thanks in advance if you know of any.

There is an OCR program that comes with Microsoft Document Imaging, part of MS Office. If you have MS Office you have it. Don't know about recognizing French - never tried it.

Not tested by me, but my brother used it in the past and said it did a wonderful job, not too sure on forrin characters though

I found this recently: http://softi.co.uk/freeocr.htm It's not only free, it's portable. I haven't tried it, I must admit, but it is another option.
