FGMM [Aircraft] 'FlyBaby'

Experimental aircraft from the sixties by Peter M. Bovers. More info here:

The Fly Baby Home Page

Started to build her Saturday evening when I cut all the parts out, assembly started this very morning at 0800.

I'm trying to use all the parts supplied with the model (that's not so easy for me all the time). So this is going to be a OOP (Out Of the Paper) build. Let's hope it doesn't turn to OOPS! :-)

First couple of pictures of the parts spred and desing.

Parts being cut out. This was printed out on a single weight matte photopaper diminishing the original model to 33,3%. I still can't do the math in my head what scale it gives to the model. I have to consult OFGSC - the Official Fiddlers Green Scale Calculator distributed via this forum.

Body is taking shape. I included the interior that came with the model. Thera are cockpit walss and rudder pedal, pilots seat with harnesses (those are printed on to the seat) and an instrument panel.

Not much of can be seen without a magnifying glass but I know it's there - that's the main thing isn't it?

Wings can be seen in the backround and get to be attached next. The actual build was not this fast but I wanted to brake the story in parts. :-)

Wings and rudder are attached. The engine cowling and the headrest are taking shape. Next will be the engine itself.

My baby! Engine and it's cowling attached. Now I'm going to prepare the landing struts etc. I might have to stiffen some parts with CA (tail wheel strut maybe).

One can get this one look better just by fixing the wheels, working the canopy in a different way and adjusting the rigging. But this one was ment to be stock version so I didin't alter the original desing in anyway.

It's finished! This one is dedicated to Bomarc 'cause he tempted me to go towards what he called 'molecular builds'. :-)

Not so much a FlyBaby as a FlyEmbryo, or FlyBlastula then <g>
