USS Ward...
....i guess i'm testing the waters (no pun intended) to see if anyone might be interested in a model of this glorious vessel in APD form at 1/72 scale?

I'm always in favor of amphibs, but that WOULD be a big model.

Just under 4 1/2' - or about the length of a 1/200 scale Bismarck or the like...

I would love to see a model of the Ward as APD-16. In 1/72 scale it would be easy to model a Betty bomber to go along with it to recreate the scene from Dec 7, 1944.
I drive past the 4" gun from the Ward frequently (it is mounted on the grounds of the Minnesota State Capitol) I attended an airshow that included a reunion of the Ward's crew and I heard first hand about the Wards role as a destroyer on Dec 7, 1941 and also about her demise as a fast transport on Dec 7, 1944. http://www.specwarnet.net/USSWard/ |
