Rick - nice little model!
Skippy - JSC do a 1/250 model of an oil rig (Dolphin) which is made available from time to time. They also do a 1/400 model of the same rig - this is always in stock. See here for a build of the 1/250 version. JSC Bredford Dolphin drilling platform 1:250 limited edition |

I have thought about doing one, but could never figure out how to design one properly (scale vs. detail). maybe a drilling ship would be easier?

Hello Friends,
I am not aware of a drilling ship by JSC. Are you referring to the FSPO PETROJARL CIDADE DE RIO DAS OSTRAS? The 1:250 BREDFORD DOLPHIN is no longer a Special Edition and is available all the time from Norwegische Bohrinsel BREDFORD DOLPHIN - Artikeldetailansicht - HMV - Hamburger Modellbaubogen Verlag. Also available is the associated lasercut by Draf Model. At 50 Euros, a steal. Regards, Cris |

As a side note:
If the Bredford Dolphin is too big and/or ambitious, there's also HMV's research platform FINO 3: FINO3 Offshore-Forschungsplattform in der Nordsee - Artikeldetailansicht - HMV - Hamburger Modellbaubogen Verlag Beware: That one is not an oil rig, but has a lot of it's features plus a very nice Bo-105 Helicopter!
