Question about enlarging PDF files

Some time ago, while browsing the site, I came across a post about enlargind PDF files. Following the post, I was able to enlarge some files, but when it was time to print the pages, instead of sending the page to my printer, the file was sent to a folder to be saved as a .prn file, whick I cannot open. my question is: How can I return my Adobe Reader to its original state i.e. no ability to enlarge files? Unfortunately I didn't make a note of who the original thread was posted by or when it was posted. Any help will be appreciated. my e-mail is: poetjrc AT mchsi DOT com

I don't know what you did, but with many programs, you can just specify a size when printing. I use Foxit instead of Adobe, and can just specify "Custom Scale 78%" when printing

I too use Foxit Reader to print PDF files at custom scales, usually less than 100%.
If you want to print at greater than 100%, you may need to take the file to a print shop which can handle large sheets of paper or cardstock.

Hi;

You did not mention what operating system you have on your computer, but did you try transferring your file into microsoft paint. Sometimes, when I get in a mess, a recalcitrant file will transfer easily and you can work the scale either up or down. Hope this may help.

Regards, rjccjr

You might make a copy of the .prn file, then try changing the .prn to .pdf to see if it is still readable. By making a copy you save the .prn to try other methods.

In the future when trying to save the enlarged PDF, use the "SAVE AS" option in the file pull down menu. That way the original file is not changed.

You might try using inkscape or gimp to open the .prn file as well. If they will open it, you should be able to save it as a jpeg, bmp, even a pdf again.

I think the .prn file is a printing file created by your system as a default. Certain Microsoft programs might be able to open it. Find out by RIGHT clicking on the .prn file and then choosing the option "OPEN WITH", choose the different options until one opens it hopefully. Your current printer software might be the magical choice!

BTW-You should delete your email address from this site. You opened yourself up to scammers by posting it. Contact an Admin here at PM if you can't edit it, they can remove it for you. Better to be safe than sorry! Notice it shows up as one of the tags below.....

Good luck!

Mike

I seem to remember that 'printing to a file' is a print option. Try looking in the printer section of Adobe reader for the printer selections.

Thank you for the suggestions. Could an Administrator please remove my e-mail address from my original post? I didn't think about scammers. Again, thank you all.

Done last night. Couldn't remove it from the Tags though. Not sure if that is doable once the first post is made.
