Helicopters and Autogyros

Just a thought, but would it make more sense to put helicopters and autogyros under one heading, "Rotorcraft" ?
It's just that autogyros seem to be in another subtitle.

It is all technically Aviation

and while we're at it, we could separate out trucks from the cars, and make racing vehicles their own subheading, same thing with Architecture, or the different Armor types.

If there is enough call for it, we will consider doing the break up

it is autogyro, and i can appreciate the passion, as I have a huge interest in Helicopters, as evidenced by my bookcase where helicopter books outnumber most other interests, except for Origami(over 200)

Helicopters, Have the same aerodynamics as a bumble bee. Look overhead at all those hundreds of rotating, moving parts all looking to beat themselves apart.

Helicopter: Thousands of parts flying in formation held together by a nut
Helicopter: They don't fly, they are so ugly the ground rejects them

Rotary Wingnut

I have had upwards of 15 model helicopters over the last decade. I believe I have now proven beyond ALL DOUBT that helicopters cannot fly.
I am prepared to demonstrate this fact to anyone who will supply me with an R/C helicopter to demonstrate the principle of non-flight.
I also can prove beyond all doubt that Autogyros cannot be built. I ordered two at different times from a not to be named company, they arrive, in a neat box which on opening seemed to contain a vast quantity of small, easily lost parts with no packing or instructions. I emailed the company and explained my problem and they suggested that I visited a forum (not run by them) to see if anyone had any idea of what they where doing.
I visited the forum and every post said either "This cannot be built" or "this cannot be made to fly"
I rest my case
Liz
P.S. I believe the company has also realised that Autogyros cannot be built and have withdrawn the kit.

Someone said one day that outside the main entrance of Sikorsky helicopters, there was a big statue of a bumble bee with a plaque stating:

"It contradicts every known aerodynamic laws but since it ignores them, it flies!"

Not the exact words but it is very true!!

I was a Senior Tech Writer for Boeing for the better part of 23 years, assigned to the Chinook in Philadelphia! Actually, you're all wrong! The Helicopter (rotary wing aircraft) are indeed that ugly, and they are a bag of parts flying in loose formation, but the real secret is that a helicopter simply beats the air into submission!!? BTW, I think one or at MOST three levels of detail are best! Say:

Aircraft, lighter than air
Balloons
Commercial
Military
Blimps
Commercial
Military
Dirigibles
Commercial
Military

Aircraft, rotary wing
Aorogyro
Commercial
Military
Helicopter
Commercial
Military

Aircraft, fixed wing
Propeller driven
Commercial
Military
Jet
Commercial
Military

Rockets
Commercial
Military

Missiles

Or something along those lines!
