1/144 FG A-4 Skyhawk, Aug 2005

Today, I dug out another old build. This is the A-4, USS Oriskany.
To the best of my memory, my first attempt at "super detailing" a
paper model. I colored in the slat area, and added the slats. I cut
out and added a backing to the speed brake area, as as well as the
landing gear bays. This, was followed by adding the open speed brakes
and actuators, and I'm not really sure what else was done. It was
eleven years ago!

You can see in some of the photos, how I have matured in our craft.

This model still exists, and has been seen several times at the IPMC in Sterling, VA.

You did a superb job of shrinkage and buildage on this FG kit, Flyboy! I like the flight deck shots especially.

Thanks for sharing another Throwback Thursday model Ray. You're right, your skills as a teeny weeny modeler have matured but this is still a great looking model. Gee look, a bright shiny giant quarter. What happened to the giant penny? ;P
