Ultrasonic cutter

NSK Nakanishi US15CBS Sonic-Cutter Standard Set - ARTCO - American Rotary Tools Company

This looks like a tool we should be using.

That is outrageous. I know we have guys right here who can pool their talents and design one. I was tinking of modifying one of those vibrating personal groomers or even a battery operated vibrating razor.

Lets all put our heads together. This would make my life a lot easier. I have a disability and I can't sit. I have to do everything layin down and that is not easy especially when it coes to cutting formers.

It would appear that a properly designed high eficiency cutter requires careful design and very precise machining in order to properly couple the blade to the pizeo crystal.

Almost affordable ultrasonic knife (not counting air fare and room rental)

Here is an almost affordable ultrasonic hobby knife.
The big problem is that you would have to move to Japan in order to be able to use it.

Why would you have to move to Japan? If you investing that much in this $ a few more for a power adaptor wouldn't make much difference...

This is very cool and, as you say, almost affordable, technology - one of my pet hates is cutting through thicker layers of card and plastic...
