Toothpicks

Hello,

For a commissioned design I need to include structures which will hold wooden toothpicks for strength. Here in Germany it seems that they have a rather constant diameter of about 2mm, but I wonder if this varies in other countries?

So, can someone confirm or negate this question with a simple at-home measurement? :)

Any data would be appreciated!

Best regards,
Thorsten

For Sweden:
• Ordinary toothpicks 2.0 x 65 mm (most likely imported)
• Cocktail sticks 2.2 x 100 mm
• Grill skewers 3.0 x 300 mm

Superfluous data, but I wanted to check for myself. :) -L

French toothpicks and grill skewers are the same size as Sweden"s. Mine at least and they're imported from China.

In my part of the USA the round toothpicks are 2mm in diameter and are around 65mm in length, give or take a few 1/100ths.

There are also some toothpicks with rounded ends and square bodies that are around 2mm square and 66 mm in length, give or take a few 1/100ths. :)

Thank you for all the replies! It may seem superfluous, but apart that some design features are dependent from the diameter, I found it a quite interesting question, and it shows the strength of an international forum like this one!

Again, thanks!

South Africa - 2.00 x 65.00 mm as well.

Quite amazing that they are all the same more or less.....

They probably all come from China!! At least the ones in my cupboard are.

Brazil: 2,00 mm x 65,00 mm.

The round ones I have are made in China. The ones with the square centers are made in the USA. There are also some flat ones that are made in Canada. International bunch, huh? :)
