For me paper is just a natural thing to work with, and can be given up any moment if I find something else that suits the purpose better. There is no forum rule saying what and what must be from paper. After all, what an audience care about most is how well a model is made. Its material is, at best, an afterthought.

I'm a bit of a disciplinarian about this, but even I resort to other materials at times. Is there anybody who doesn't? Just do whatever rocks your boat.

In recent years I got lazy and I'm using strictly paper in many forms like cardboards, corrugated sheets of various sizes, copier paper etc.I'm recently using even paper receipts from gas distributors,McD etc.It rolls well.
I use to put anything into my models like copper and steel wires, plastics, neoprene, plexi, glass balls, etc. Oo,I still use SS nuts and lead for counterweights.124 Gr FMJ is super. |

It's very interesting question. In general, anybody can use any materials. Those can be wire, metal, wood, different kinds of plastisc, fillers, paints and so on. However, this question have means only if we say about competitions. In this case we should to establish a regulations of using non-paper materials to save the very idea of paper modeling. I have wrote an booklet about ruls for using non-paper materials in paper models which take part in competitions. However in Russia this question nobody interesting. And and I calmed down.... :-)

Abso-lutely use more than just paper in my models. I too refer to my own as "mostly paper" or paper "sculpture". I have started stuffing my character models with plastic shopping bags to give them inner support. Helps them hold their shape, kinda like air in a balloon.
