Question Glue-What do we use?

You cannot build without glue.

IMHO-- There are many adhesives on the market for papermodels. Some work well ,some do not. Can we share what is good and what is not?

Aleens Tacky craft glue works quite well for me but there are situations were I would like something else like for thin strips and backing(doubling large pieces).

How about glue pens ? Do Cyanurates have a place in our tool kit?

Slip time is a factor. Saturation can ruin a model. Residue is a problem. Cleanability is important.

This thread my be worn out but I could not find any.

Please let us hear your preferences and their usages.

I mainly use white pva glue. Don't favour any brand, buy on price only

Spray mount aerosol for laminating to card (1mm)

Thin super glue hardening things like wheels and delicate items.

Normal super glue for metal objects

Been using double-sided tape for glazing - works really well

Hope this helps

Tim

PVA glue is white glue like Elmer's school glue.

I use Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue most of the time. Aleenes's Fast Grab and Turbo Tacky glue are used sometimes.

Crazy Glue brush on, which is a CA glue, is used. Other types of CA glues like Super Glue are used sometimes.

Tombo Mono Aqua is used sometimes.

Various types of glue sticks are used sometimes.

It depends on what is needed to be accomplished.

Necroscoping is sometimes used to laminate sheets of paper and/or card stock together.

I tend to use copydex.. strong and fast bond, and if you get it all over the model, it just rubs off.

Dear Papergeezer:
you have opened the can of worms (GLUE) I will add that there seems to be cultural more like where in world you are as to what glue is best. In Europe Uhu glue is the King I got some at an art supply store in the US and did not like it at all then I found out that A. it was old stock and B. it had most likely frozen coming across the big pond. both would make the glue not good. So in the Upstate New York area I keep and use Alines tacky glue thin and thick super glue and Scotch 77 spray glue.
Enjoy trying new glues,
Miles

I use Aleene's Tacky Glue for most work, AveryŽ Glue Sticks for laminations, Weldbond for canopies and windows, and CA (superglue) if I need a really strong joint.
