Just to throw in two cents about rivets, in model railroading, there are decals available for simulating raised rivets. For railroad equipment they would be large round headed iron, like that used on buildings and bridges. One place that carries the rivet decals is Micro-Mark - The Small Tools Specialists. I had to search under decal to find them.
Silly question, when did smooth flat head countersunk rivets come into use?

Late 1920s I think. Jiro Horikoshi, designer of the A5M and A6M fighters, said in his biography that he saw flush riveting in the Junkers factory when he visited in the early 1930s.

I think it was Howard Hughes with his H1 race plane who demanded flat rivets for a better aerodynamic result

Well I finish this "test build" of a P47D, with this modelling I have lerned several new techniques using alluminium tape glue to 80gr paper, using two layers of tape for some parts for extra shape build. It was great to handle with this model with very looking result, I'm thinking next model will be a Mig19.

Its time to paint it!

Looks VERY good Paul. Looks like you even covered the canopy frame. You (and others here) are advancing the art of paper modeling in a most interesting way. This continues to be a fascinating thread.

Thanks Elliot for the kind comment, well this is not to much different from normal papermodeling, but I agree is a kind of new technique for real alluminium model outfit.

Is this stuff usuable for this technique? Not sure how thick 36 guage is. Ithink the higher the number the thinner the material but Imay have it backasswards.
