Request for help

I am a bit new at this, still, and wonder if you might give me your suggestions for laminating large pieces of paper to board. I usually use Tacky Glue and it works well for most assembly but not for laminating larger pieces which tend to bubble and warp. Any suggestions?

thank you,
Frank

I am some times forcd to use good old white glue. When I do, I use it real thinly and then clamp the laminated parts between two pieces of glass to dry. It usually works OK. I guess that spray glue is yur best bet though.

For laminating, i use the following:

large sheets/parts - 3M 77 spray (a bit expensive but worth it)

smaller parts - Uhu twist & glue or Tombow mono aqua

Definitely use the 3M 77 spray versus any other brand, you won't be sorry if you do. You will be if you don't.

Yep. 3M 77 spray is the stuff. I use UHU for smaller things when I'm too lazy to go spray.

It is, no doubt, the best...but I have used Elmers spray craft glue...see here: Elmer's Craft Bond Spray Glue 4oz Product Detail -- CreateForLess

...with great results. And it doesn't have the caustic smell that the 3m stuff has. EDIT: And it is available at Wal-Mart, Michael's, Meijer, etc.

Really...most glues will work fine...however the key is pressing them flat and putting a lot of weight or clamping pressure as it dries.

Note that I tried this same glue, left the sheets sit for 2 days with a couple college textbooks sitting on them, and when I started cutting the pieces of paper just came apart. I threw the bottle away and have used only 3m type 77 since.

Obviously your results may vary.

Me too...if I'm out of UHU or it is a larger area, I use UHU Twist'n'Glue which is also prone to twist'n'bubble unless you weigh it down between a couple of heavy rigiad flat surfaces overnight.
