Cheers Kevin. I had a peek, but with p&p added it only saves a few pennies over the Airbrush Supply one, which is post free.
When I ordered the Airbrush Supply one yesterday, I was told they'd confirm the sale by email, but I've not heard from them yet.

I didn't notice that there was extra PnP!
There's a craft shop down the road - I'll have a look when I go past there next.

lol I sent an email to the company that makes/distributes Roket Card Glue.
Told them who I was, that I was part of the online community of Paper Modelers. Told them we were discussing the merits of their Glue. Also related the problems I was having purchasing the Glue...the varied costs...the expensive shipping. I inquired about local sellers here in southern Ontario and getting a sample product for testing and reviewing purposes. Suggested that I would like to try the product and hopefully write a favorable review on the forums. Just got an email back, thanking me for my interest in the product and suggesting I contact a Hobby store to order the product. It included the info of an independent seller (a Hobby store) in western USA. lol (I'm in central/eastern Canada) So, I guess thats a no on the samples.

Initial Report from a Duffer
I received a bottle of Rocket Card Glue in the mail today from Horizon Hobbies (ordered via Amazon). It cost US$11.38, including postage I have not yet tried using it to construct an actual model, but did some test gluing to get a feel for its properties.
I have not yet used the nozzle extension applicator, but tried squeezing out a little from the nozzle onto the edge of a piece of card and used my traditional methods of squeezing some out into a V-8 bottle cap and applying with a toothpick, a needle, and a brush. My initial reaction is very positive. The glue has no objectionable odor and is the consistency of light cream. It is very easy to control the flow directly from the bottle, although I would not generally use it that way. It is easy to apply with a toothpick, a needle, or a brush. You have a few seconds to adjust the position of the part and then the glue sets up in less than ten seconds. I believe the claims of Deluxe Materials that you can build faster with this adhesive are true. I put the test pieces of paper and card together essentially as fast as I could apply the glue and put the parts together. No purple tint. And the erase of application and rapid setting means that even a duffer like me could produce a fairly clean result. It also adhered metal and wood to card very effectively - again, with complete setting of the adhesive in less than ten seconds after a very brief period in which the parts could be aligned and adjusted. The brush cleaned up quickly and completely with water. The only drawback is that there is a warning not to ingest the material, so I refrained from my normal practice of sucking the glue off the toothpick and the brush, so I cannot report on the taste. If I determine that the material is no more toxic than PVA white glue, I will revert to my old habits. I'll see how it goes with an actual model, but based on this test, I am convinced that this is the best adhesive for paper modelling I have tried yet. I await other reports that may uncover problems that I did not identify. Don Added: After re-reading the comments John (NYC Irishman) made, I tried gluing up parts printed in color. So far no bleed through, no running of colors, just very fast, clean, and reliable gluing. I wonder if you got a bad batch, John, or if the glue deteriorates on the shelf. Only time will tell, but so far, I cannot reproduce your negative results, including spattering from the bottle, although I may have been a little extra cautious having read your warning. I think it's the best model I've built so far.

What a bout a plastic window to see through? Think it will work on plastic?
For really long glue connections, probably not going to work? Thinking of 36" long seams on rockets. Sounds like it might set to fast. Mike |
