Roket PVA Card Glue

This glue, which I have never seen before, was mentioned on the Paper Card Modeling Facebook Group.

Its a UK product...but is available on Amazon.com for US buyers.
Unfortunately it doesn't ship to Canada

...so I checked Amazon.ca and found one seller asking $74 a bottle! lol

Its a waterbased PVA type Glue...with a very thin milky consistency.
Much thinner than other PVAs or Craft glues, but it seems to spread and hold with the similar viscosity.
It also dries absolutely crystal clear, so its great for making windows.

It appears to bond very strongly and very quickly, like CA Glue.
It even comes in a smaller Bottle and uses those filament applicator nozzles (like CA Glues).
One report states that the applicator nozzles clog easily and need to be cleaned a lot.
But since this is a wtarebased product, cleanup shouldn't be too bad.

Anyway, the manufacturer has a website and promotional video explaining the glue.
https://www.deluxematerials.co.uk/en...243900401.html

And on youtube, I found an independant review and demonstration of the Glue.

So...has anyone else tried this product?
Can you give us your opinion.

I'd also like to find an affordable outlet and try this glue myself.

Let us know what you think.

Hi Dave,

Looked at this on Amazon. Cost is $8.39 USD + 2.99 for shipping. When I added a bottle to the cart, things changed fast for me. Shipping went to $10.99 because not eligible for free shipping.

Not sure who Horizon hobbies is, but that who is selling it.

Will look around the local hobby shops to see if they can get or already stock.

Interested in trying it out!

Mike

Dave,

I haven't seen this product before, but $74 pr bottle (especially if it's USD) would definitely deter me.

Try this one Dave DXMAD57 - Roket Card Glue By DELUXE MATERIALS @ Great Hobbies It appears to be in Canada.

From the manufacturer it's advertised at 6.15 to me, but when I popped it into the cart it gained shipping and tax which upped it to 11.68.

So I reduced to order amount to 0 and left without giving any further details. I don't doubt that I will be receiving an email soon.

Horizon Hobbies is a RC seller. I've seen some of their glues at local hobby shops, but don't know if they have that type. Just remember the label design.

Dave - Thanks for identifying this product. I look forward to using it.

Mike - I just bought a bottle from Horizon via Amazon. Cost $8.39. Shipping $2.99 and still $2.99 after I completed the order. Just checked my account and was only charged $2.99 for shipping. Recommend you try again. I notice there are two other vendors who also offer the item with "free shipping," for $11. 38, which just happens to equal 8.39 + 2.99.

Here is a video on using the glue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz_5T-3-_tA (one rude, crude, and disgruntled commentator violent objects to using any water-based glue for paper models).

Yup, this is a Canadian Hobby store with six store locations and online mail-order.
Their Mississauga store is about an hour east of me on the highway.
So, local, but a bit far for easy pickup.

Cost is $10 a bottle...which is four times what I pay for Aileenes.
And shipping is $11.25...which is $11.25 more than I pay for Aileenes.

LOL
Maybe Santa will gift me some for Xmas? lol

I just purchased a bottle from AIRBRUSH SUPPLY via AMAZON (UK) for 7 post free.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/DLXAD057-De...cket+card+glue

I look forward to trying it. My dodgy fingers get me into all sorts of trouble when I try to use SuperGlue.

Looking at the videos, it's just gotta be the Bee's knees for edge gluing.

I picked it up in a hobby store a few years ago and have to admit I am not a fan of it. It is quick but I do not think its worth it. It might be better suited to Balsa plane builders who need on-site repairs.

Application is the first problem, Being almost like milk it can splatter out of the nozzle just from tipping the bottle to apply the glue. Even when applying it sparingly with a toothpick, it soaked into the paper which will cause distorting and shrinking. Worst is that it also stains (purple) and in a first it also causes toner to run (That's a new one, Inkjet running happens but Laser Toner is amazing).

I'm not sure why its marketed for card modellers but take some time to see how it works if you do.

I did noticed that it was part of their model rocketry line
From the description John gave, it sounds like it acts much in the same way a thin or low viscosity CA glue works, meant to be wicked into the paper, or cardboard, while holding the piece to the rocket body.
And seeing I haven't had the chance to build a model rocket, I am just guessing at the application method, I have seen balsa and grey card stock(legal pad stuff) as wings and tail feathers on rockets, so the wicking might be the method of application.
