Elmer's X-Treme School Glue Stick

Hi all,

I have been using for the past couple of years, the glue stick mentioned in the title, I have tried others, from Aleene's, UHU, and even the regular glue stick from Elmer's, but the X-Treme version is what I have settled on.

At Michaels, or AC Moore, and even Joann, a single stick goes for about $3, and the 2 pack at Walmart, in their back to school section, also $3, you can guess what went into my cart.

I use this stick for quick lamination, or when I am making greeting cards, dries reasonably fast, so placement is key.

In the picture, they show the 25 gram version, apparently there is a 40 gram version, just a little taller and wider.

There is also a liquid version of the X-Treme glue, but I haven't found a bottle of that one yet, available in 4 and 8 oz sizes.

I have a bottle of their Craftbond, and one of their glue sticks, I haven't been impressed with either to continue to use them.

If you want to try it for yourself, check it out, and share your thoughts.

Rick

I have the 25 gram version and use it for lamination also. It works quite good. As Rick wrote, you do have to work kind of quickly because it dries fast. The biggest problem so far has been around the perimeter, but you can use a toothpick or some other applicator to get a small amount from the glue stick and apply it to the areas around the perimeter that did not adhere.

The wide diameter of the 25 gram stick helps in applying the glue to large areas, the 40 gram stick would probably work even better. Will have to keep an eye out for that size. I have a large piece of thick glass (10 inches/25.5 cm X 14 inches/35.7 cm X 0.2 inches/0.5 cm) that I lay the parts on to apply the glue for laminating. Any over application can be scraped off of the glass using the blade from a utility knife.

This is probably a good time in the USA to start gathering that sort of stuff for paper modeling. Many states are getting close to the back to school time so a bunch of stores are starting their back to school campaigns.

With the US Midterm Elections coming up, there will also be large, free loads of Cardstock delivered via US Mail, in the form of Campaign Ads. Wonder how the Glue Stick will work on those Glossy Cardstocks?

I have ordered the 8oz liquid bottle, not realizing, or checking one of my supply drawers, that I actually have the 4oz bottle already, oh well, having stock is always a good thing
