Great idea, Thanks for sharing. I would think this would come in handy when making umbilical hoses from a LUT to launch vehicle.

I've used q-tips
you just have to take the fuzzy stuff off the ends

Great ideas. Will have to experiment with them. But I have lots of ideas where I could apply that!

Forgot about Q-tips. You just need to make sure that they are the ones that are paper shafts and not plastic.

I think that is a very clever and really useful method cardist, thanks for sharing.
In the UK, Johnsons cotton buds are paper sticks. Most other makes are plastic sticks, though many well change away from plastic back to paper given the rising awareness of "plastic pollution". Regards Kevin

Thank you all for your comments and observations. Here in the U.K., I get my lolly sticks from Hobbycraft outlets. These can be found in the home baking section. However, I am always on the lookout for stuff that can be used for building models wherever I go.
All the best and happy modelling. Bernie |

So tell me true. Just how thick is this unwrapped paper that these stick things may or may not be made from.
Airmail writing paper is 0.5mm (0.02") thick and is quite happy to roll up if asked. Does it for me whenever needed. |

Just measured it. Comes out at 0.07mm, 0.0003in. What I really like about them is that when unrolled, they are already tempered and want to be rolled again.

I measured an unrolled lollipop stick and it comes out with my digital caliper as 0.10 mm or 0.004 inch. (0,10mm or 0,004 inch)
It is a Wilton with a stock number of 1912-9320 which is for the 25 count packet. Wilton Lollipop Sticks Palitos de pirulķes Bātonnets ą sucette

... they were typos ... they were typos ... they were typos ... and definitely not innate stupidity ...
Let's try that again. Airmail writing paper is 0.05mm (.002") thick. (manual micrometer) Probably about 40-50gsm so about half the thickness and weight of copy paper and offering no resistance at all to being rolled because it just doesn't have a temper at all. |
