Panel Lines & Color

hi all, ive recently created some aircraft models using sketchup and unfolded it so the templates have been prepared. unfortunately, its all bare, ie. no panel lines or colors.

one technique ive done to put panel lines into the model was just basically incorporating it as a normal line but it messes up parts of the 3d model, tbh im not sure why that happens as im self taught with sketchup and it seems more tedious to do.

ive tried adding textures which ive successfully done but its too pixelized.

does anyone have any suggestions?

is there a technique or extension on sketchup that can aid on these details?

or is it better to use illustrator or inkscape?

thanks everyone!!

Use high def images as texture to help you position your lines, then paint the proper lines in 2D. There doesn't seem to be a much better solution than this for skp...
