What adhesives do you use?

I recently had some dissapointing results using Lepages Spray Adhesive.
It starting me thinking about what adhesives (glues) other people are using, what they use it for, and how they use it.

Normally I use 3M Adhesive spray for laminating large parts.
Elmers Glues Sticks for small laminations (usually scratchbuilt parts)
Either UHU Liquid or CA for rigid parts
Aleene's Tacky for routine assembly

What are you using?

OK, you poked me with a stick so I'll say it again... DUCO CEMENT! I'm too impatient for any white glue... plus being water based they soak into a part and deform it. Even Aleenes.

I love 3M spray adhesive and am finding creative ways to use it for more and more things.

3M 77 for laminations, altho' my ancient can died recently and I picked up a can of Aileens spray glue. Seems to be working out well so far (knock paper ore)

I like the Elmers glue sticks best, but I've had problems with glue-sticked laminations coming undone after a fairly short period of time.

Elmer's Glue-All for almost everything else. When the average humidity is in single digits, short open time is more of a problem than slow drying.

I have a little jar of Testor's Model Master clear parts cement that shares canopy duties with extra thin 2-sided tape (3M carpet tape)

I absolutely loathe CA glues and try to avoid using them for anything I can use anything else for.

3M 77 and Duro All-Purpose Spray Adhesive for laminating parts.
Thick CA to glue paper to metal
When I can get it Greven Wiccoll for general assembly and Arlene’s Tacky when I cant get Wiccoll.

Wiccoll is a specific glue for paper modeling and I believe it is manufactured in Poland (where else would you get the best paper modeling glue). The only source I could get it from in the US was Lighthouse. It sets up faster then most other white glues and still has a good slip time for adjusting the part.


I haven’t used DUCO Cement but with Golden bears recommendation I give it a try.

I use the same as Shrike except the glue stick (don't use) and the ca(use for metal, and plastic-cockpits). Elmers glue-all rules! Cheap and can get it anywhere! I use it carefully and on edges mostly, but laminate with it because it adds stiffness overnight to wing spars, ect. I often bite the end of the glue bottle to get off the old glue and Aleen's tastes bad. You asked.

Like most of the others here, I use 3M-77 spray to laminate parts to card stock (I don't trust anything else). For general assembly...nothing fancy - just regular 'ol Elmer's or Aileens tackey glue. On a rare occasion I'll break out the CA.

I hereby withdraw my recommendation of Aileen's spray glue.

I just started cutting the formers I had laminated this past weekend, and I've been having some rather annoying failures.

Ack! Sounds bad! I really like 3M 77 ... you can always fall back to that.

Can I withdraw my comments entirely? I'm tired of being beaten up for being the only DUCO visionary.

Never had any problems with the 77, so I'll probably pick up a can tomorrow and re-layup all the parts.

I've never seen a monetarist interpretation of that topic before. Not sure I approve. Well I mean I'm damned certain I don't.

The Oz equivalent of Duco is Tarzan's Grip and I'd been using it almost exclusively for multiple yonks before I even knew there was such a thing as a Golden Bear. :D

Like GB I hold the superiority of this type of glue to be a self evident truth.
