Canopy glue?
I'm building a P-51 "Pin Up Girl" from Airdave that I enlarged to 1/22 scale.
I used his paper canopy to make a mold and formed a canopy from clear plastic. My question is whats the best glue to attach the canopy frame to the plastic canopy. Every thing i have tried has not stuck to the plastic well......HELP....Rich

Maybe I don't quite understand what materials your trying to glue together, but wouldn't some kind of CA glue work.. Like Superglue of some sort? Or are you avoiding it for some reason?
Like I said, I may be on the wrong track and your more than welcome to ignore my suggestion. good luck, SFX |

Has anyone ever tried using clear silicon adhesive for this task?

I'm trying to glue a paper frame to plastic canopy...I diped the canopy in Future floor wax that will help keep it from frosting but I'm still scared to use C.A. not had much luck in past with it......Rich

I've used in the past the actual testors canopy glue, this one: Testors » Testors » Cements & Glues » Cement For Plastic » Clear Parts Cement 1 Oz..
And used it on this beta build: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/69259-post88.html Additional pictures: 1/48 OP-2E Neptune US Navy Paper Model - ECardmodels.com Shop - Downloadable models and crafts for It got kinda messy as it was my first time using it as you can see on the edges...but there was no fogging. Then used it here again, but the edge is hidden by the canopy frame: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/117933-post15.html |

Not always correct!
CA glue will not fog the canopy plastic if you dip it first in Future floor polish ( see some of my previous builds ) Unprotected canopies may fog with too much CA glue ( yes I had some before using Future ). However , I think that CA glue is too messy to glue the frame to the canopy. I use Aileen tacky glue. You can clean up after it dries. Isaac

Zathros suggested Zip Dry Paper Glue and I have had some success with gluing clear plastic to paper. The glue seems to be a cross between PVA type glue and solvent based glue. I purchased it at Michaelscrafts store for around $4. I doubt if it would work over Future floor wax but after gluing the parts I would dip a canopy in future.

Here's a question -- where do you get your plastic for the canopy?
I've tried various kinds of CA, and maybe it was just bad stuff, but it neither fogged nor held !! My best results came from cutting little notches along the edges, letting my regular Aileen's reach the paper and overlap the plastic, holding it like a bolt.
