uhu glue
Hope this is the right place for this question, is anyone familiar with the Uhu glues? Local store has em on clearance and, of course if they are any good I will stock up. I've never used them, hence the question.

Frank-Michael Goldmann"s Tips and Tricks
I'm not too familiar with UHU glues (not too common in the US), but this link should be helpful, just scroll down to chapter 4: glues

I'm working almost exclusively with UHU Alleskleber ("flinke flasche"- a yellow plastic bottle), it works fine for me. Disadvantage is that it can pull thin threads like from a spider web when you apply it, especially if the glue is not fresh anymore. Advantages are that it doesn't soften the paper a lot even when applied in thick layers, holds paper and other things together very well and can be rubbed off from some sealed surfaces before it's dry.
Be careful not to buy the one which is water based. Thorsten |

Not to worry: UHU glues are OK. I think they are all non-water based.
Id you have such glue in a 'large' bottle, it is apt to dry out over time. I then add a squirt of acetone, or acetone-based nail polish remover. Shake, do not stir. What worked for James Bond, works for me. |

UHU are very good they are everywhere here in egypt dirt cheap (big one costs like 1.3 $ "9 LE" )
so i say where ever you find it get it it's quite good and i of course agree with thorst do not but the water based one they will ruin your models (I've tried them) ultra stone |

I make 1/144 scale WW I planes (very small).
The UHU glue works well for the struts and gluing plastic prop disks to pins. UHU glue is water resistant so the struts do not delaminate when touched up with water based paint. See, post 19: Albatros c1 prototype designed by Batesyboy |

I only use UHU glue on windows and glazing.
It's great for that, no fogging but it can get a bit 'stringy' Smells nice too! Tim |

Just make sure to get the black bottles, the green one does warp your paper and doesn't stick as good.

Just don't buy too many tubes or bottles. Once they get old any glue will develop undesirable properties. And hello to yet another fellow tar-heel.
