I'd suggest you first try it on a model you don't really care for. I've got three printers and, although they are all HP, the different inks have varying degrees of water solubility. I'll be interested to see how this stuff works out for you.

I just read the instruction sheet at HD and it cautions this product may change the appearance of porous materials:

"Best For Use On: Metal, wood, concrete, aluminum, galvanized metal, PVC, masonry,
asphalt, vinyl siding, fiberglass, most plastics and more. Test in an inconspicuous area
before applying.
NOTE: NeverWet can be used on fabric, leather and canvas however; NeverWet will dry
to a flat, milky haze and may change the appearance, especially on dark colored items.
Test in an inconspicuous area before applying."

Would "Scotchgard" work for what you want?

Ron

Unless you intend to play with your models in, say, the shower, I see no reason to apply it to a paper model. I use Tamiya clear and Future for sealing and cockpit gloss and that all works fine for me as long as I just leave them on the shelf gathering dust. (-;
I'd like this stuff for my shoes, nevertheless.

oooooooooh how wrong you are my little comrade.

Transporting models here and there...to shows, etc...
and displaying them at those types of events...
puts them at great risk.
Exposure to the elements.
...not to mention those pesky little kiddies with candy floss and snow kones!
Hey, I almost spilled a cup of coffee on my display table at the last show!

But, right here at home, I have damaged a considerable number
of models while cleaning out my Fish Tank!
Many of my models are displayed on the same wall unit that houses my aquanaut collection.
And I service the sea serpent village every week!

My first exercise will be to waterproof many models already on display!

In fact, I might waterproof the PT Boat and see if the fishies like it!

Oo, oo, do I see a possible addition to your helmet collection? Ironman, perhaps?

Its the head (enlarged) from Uhu's Ironman.
The only part anyone can actually finish.

Just imagine the spray applied to a ship model. You could actually put it into the water - and watch it swim!

I went looking for this Spray today at Home Depot
but the staff knew nothing about it.
And I couldn't find it on the shelves.

But I did find 3M Super 77 Spray Adhesive
in the large capacity can
for under $15
which is about $4 less than the artstore!

So, next time I need some glue, I will check again for the No Wet spray.

Strange they didn't know of it Dave. On this site they are advertising it post free ...

Rust-Oleum Stops Rust 18 oz. NeverWet Multi-Purpose Spray Kit-274232 at The Home Depot

(Boy you wanna see that link in full)

The site also helpfully shows you the nearest stockist. Not so helpful to me in UK, as it shows my nearest stockist to be in Cumberland. Hmmm? There's a Cumberland in UK ... I wonder? Nah, Cumberland is a county here, not a town.

I'll have to try ordering some on-line and test out if they will export and the delivery cost.

Regardless of other's hesitation, even if it works to simply waterproof a cardboard box as a litter tray, as in the video, I'm sure I can find a market for it over here. Hopefully it will prove usable on paper models though ...

Johnny.
