I've already posted several positive comments, but I also wanted to comment on how what you are doing is almost a lost art. If you even try a search on the Internet on how to do 2D pattern design with paper and pencil, what you get generally turns out to be a tutorial of a 2D graphics program. I have a book in my library on how blacksmiths and silversmiths copied things. The process is very similar.

So far you are still in the simple stages, flat surfaces and simple curves. I can't wait to see some of the more difficult aspects. I am also waiting to see your finishing and painting techniques.
