I'm going to give it a closer look. Thanks. Could be very handy.
I have Solid Edge CAD to draw the results. But an excel calculations program simplifies things.. |

Hi, people.
Here is the new version of the tool. The four existing worksheets were cleaned out for math/formatting consistency. Some of the notation was changed, schemes were simplified, but the functionalities remain the same. Two new worksheets, named (C/P)ComplexSolid, perform the calculations for complex solids of revolution. What kind of solids? Domes, domes with a flat top, wheels with sleek circular tires or with "fat" tires, and so on. As explained before, use either worksheet (C)... or (P)... depending on the dimensions of the printer/paper you use. Home printer? Stick with (C). Each (C/P) pair generates different data to obtain exactly the same solids of revolution. Please pay attention to the enclosed schemes and notes, where all parameters were described. Playing with parameters n and m leads to some crazy stuff... just try mixing n>2 with m<1 or vice-versa. For now, I'm going to stop adding features to this tool, as the shapes are becoming really complex for such a small scale. Also, the tool is getting difficult to describe... Update:
Fixed some nasty errors in some formulas. Converted all angle measurements to degrees. J. |
