We'll be here...don't you worry.
Don't hesitate to share your successes and failures.

Speaking of alcohol, had a great Lunch out yesterday
with my Mum, Daughter and Daughter's Boyfriend
at a British themed restaurant.
I had a lovely big bowl of "Guinness Stew",
capped off with some "Guinness Ice Cream".
Good stuff!

I was lucky, alcohol and I had a clean break after the second time they pumped my stomach and the ulcer HAD to get under control.

Just don't let it get that bad.

We'll be here. Take care

Glad to see you're still interested Liz. Take your time and work as you can. There's no rush on this end. You can take pride in what your questions sparked. If you hadn't spoken up none of this would have happened. As for the alcohol, here on the forum real life ALWAYS comes first. We'll be here when you need us. Rooting for you....

Guinness ?

Dear Airdave
Back in 76 I was living in a small bedsit in Leeds. I was given a small puppy on the "if you don't take it it's for the chop" basis. He was tiny and lovely and because he was only 50% pint sized and had a white head and black body I called him "Arferginnis"
I walked him five or six times a day but at some point I had to go to work morning and afternoons. He could not cope with being alone as he had been separated too soon and he started chewing, then eating furniture.
At about this time I had decided to dip into f/f power and built a Fokker Eindekker with a tiny cox engine on the front. I was so pleased, it was the most beautiful thing I had ever built.
So, the previous day I had come home for Arfer's lunchtime walk to find he had eaten one end of my settee.
This day, I arrived home to find :-
!/ Two wingtips
2/ A small dog with a small sliver of balsa up one nostril
and
3/ A cox engine with a teethmarked carb and a prop with canine ventilation holes.
Oh well.
Fast forward to 200something or other.
I had been to visit my cousin Ray Hall, (the best builder I have had the privilege to meet) and I casually let slip that I was flying Radio but fancied something tiny to carry around in the car. "I've got some small engines you can have" he said "they're no use to me.I'll post you them".
Sure 'nuff a few days later, I received a small envelope full of TINY engines. This one doesn't look much use, thought I.
Doctor who video and sound effects back 30 years.
Yes, it was the same dogchewed engine, it is now sewn to the front of my peaked flying cap where it's propeller whizzes round as I fly.
I call it my "Lucky" hat, even when I crash.
Liz

Your story brought a tear to my ear.
I am reminded of my own Dog, 25 years ago.
I can remember all the things that dog chewed, ate, and destroyed.
And how I scolded her so, everytime she destroyed something in the house
...
...
and I wish every day to have those moments back.
I would give up all my paper models just to have those moments again.

...
sorry...was that supposed to be a pet story or a hobby story? LOL
