Varnish...?
Hi,
Last time I was looking for something that helps me to protect paper and makes paper a little bit harder. I was looking for a varnish. Matt varnish spray for wood that I used in my country. I coulden't find such varnish here in Thailand. Only Laquer. But I think it isn't the best thing to impregnate paper. Till today. In one shop for artists I found something like that: I'd like to ask. Have you ever tryed such varnish? If so is it ok? Maybe you use something smilar. I'd like to know your opinion Best Regards Lukas |

Hi Lukas,
I think you have the right stuff. I'm using a similar varnish, it's a Dutch brand called Talens. Acrylic based matt varnish. I always spray a thin coat on each sheet before starting the work, if required apply some with a brush during the build and sometimes a thin spray after the build. It sort of masks any glue stains. Makes the paper a bit stronger and stiffer when working with it and there is hardly any negative effect on the glue bonding. Use it with care in a well ventilated room! And most of all try it out on a finished model or something that has turned into a failure.... It dries relatively quick but allow the first layer to dry thoroughly, a few hours. Don't spray too thick to avoid dripping. Plan the work! Good luck, Erik |

Indeed the best place to buy it is in an artist's shop, they can also give you good advice. I buy mine always in such a shop.
